How most Fiji restaurants run today

A till, a notebook and a drawer that never quite add up.

Sales ring up in one place, orders get scribbled in another, and stock and expenses live in someone's head. Every handover is a chance for takings to go missing.

The cash register

Rings up a total and prints a tape. It has no idea what sold, who sold it, or what's left in the freezer.

The exercise book

Phone orders, stock counts and supplier dockets written down during service and added up at eleven at night.

The overseas app

Billed in US dollars, has never heard of M-PAiSA or MyCash, and often stops ringing up when the internet does.

The cash-up

Counting the drawer against a figure nobody quite trusts. A shortfall turns up days later, when no one remembers why.

IslandPOS puts all four on one tablet — so every sale is counted, every order is tracked, and the drawer balances before you lock up.

Honest comparison

Why not just use an overseas POS app, or the till you have?

You can. Plenty do. Here's what each one covers out of the box — and where you end up back in the exercise book.

Comparison reflects typical out-of-the-box capability, not any one product. Many overseas POS apps are excellent; the gaps are local tenders, FJD billing and support in your time zone.

From the first order to the last count.

Four moments that matter in a day: ringing up a table, closing the drawer, filing a supplier docket, and checking how it went from wherever you are.

One system · Every feature

Everything a Fiji restaurant runs on — nothing it doesn't.

From the first tap at the counter to the Z report at close, and the stock, expenses and reports behind them. No add-ons to buy, no modules to switch on.

At the counter

01

A till built for a tablet

Big touch tiles in colour-coded categories, dine-in or takeaway with a table number, and one bill split across as many tenders as the table wants.

Touch-first
02

Fiji's tenders, not someone else's

Cash with tendered and change, BSP transfer, M-PAiSA and MyCash, each with its reference. The receipt shows the note handed over, so paper matches memory.

Cash · BSP · M-PAiSA · MyCash
03

Keeps selling offline

Every sale is saved on the tablet first and sent up in the background. Lose the internet mid-service and the till carries on; nothing is sent twice when it's back.

Offline-first
04

Staff PINs & owner approval

Staff tap their name and a 4-digit PIN, and every sale records who rang it up. Discounts and voids need a reason and the owner's PIN. The till locks itself after 30 idle minutes.

PINs · Roles
05

Receipts on the roll

A TAX INVOICE with your TIN when you're VAT registered, a SALES RECEIPT when you're not. Prints to 80mm or 58mm Bluetooth printers on Android, or any printer from the browser.

80mm · 58mm
06

Phone & counter orders

Take a name, a number and the items, then move the order from Received to In kitchen to Ready to Delivered. Pay now or at pickup — the till reminds you what's still open.

At close

07

Shift cash-up & Z report

Open with a float, close with a count. The variance shows as you type — green when it balances, amber within FJ$5, red beyond — and the Z report prints straight to the roll.

Z report

08

Menu & specials

Drag tiles into order, colour your categories, flag VAT per item. Set a special for a run of days and the till charges it on its own, struck through against the menu price.

Menu
09

Stock & wastage

Stock in with supplier and cost, a weighted average cost, wastage with a reason, and stocktakes that show the variance in quantity and dollars. Low stock gets flagged.

Stocktake
10

Expenses from a photo

Photograph a supplier docket and it comes back read: supplier, TIN, date, VAT, total and the lines. Anything uncertain is highlighted, and nothing saves until you confirm it.

Receipt scanning
11

Quotes & invoices

For catering and functions: quotes that convert to invoices, part payments, and a choice of whether the money went into the drawer or straight to the bank.

Dashboard & reports

Today, this week and this month against the last. Sales by item, category, staff and hour, dine-in against takeaway, expenses, wastage and a VAT summary — every table exports to CSV.

Built during service

Every feature earned its place in a working kitchen.

IslandPOS was built alongside a restaurant in Fiji, trading every day. A few of the things real service taught it:

The PIN pad ran off the bottom of the tablet.
On a landscape tablet the discount dialog's 0 key couldn't be reached. Every dialog now fits the screen, with the keypad beside the form.
A $10 sale paid with a $20 printed “Cash 10.00”.
Nothing on the receipt matched what the customer remembered handing over. Receipts now show the note tendered and the change.
A handwritten docket nearly claimed VAT nobody charged.
No supplier TIN now means no input VAT recorded — the kind of claim FRCS would disallow — and the scan says so.
Android's print service couldn't see the Bluetooth printer.
Receipts and Z reports now go straight to the roll through a Bluetooth print app, with browser printing as the backup.
Switching is the easy part

Change tills without a Friday night going wrong.

The scary part of a new till isn't the software — it's the busiest service of the week going sideways. So we set it up with you, one step at a time.

01

We load your menu

Send us your menu — a photo is fine. We set up the categories, colours, prices and VAT, and you check it on the tablet before anyone rings anything up.

02

Set up the counter

Install it on your tablet, pair the receipt printer, add your staff with their PINs and set your opening float. It installs like an app, straight from the browser.

03

Run a service side by side

Ring up a shift on IslandPOS next to your old till until the cash-ups match, then switch — with Fiji-based support on the phone, not a ticket queue overseas.
